History
Founded by Minen, a Dharma brother of Kyonyo, the 12th head priest of Honganji, the temple was established in Kuramae in 1609 (Keicho 14). After suffering damage in the Meireki Fire, it relocated within the grounds of Asakusa Honganji. It moved away from those grounds in 1806 (Bunka 3) and finally relocated to its current site in 1923 (Taisho 12).
