Hoshimiya Shrine
栃木市城内町2丁目18−799
A shrine that purifies the stars and opens the way to tomorrow, protecting the stars (lives) that people carry.
History
The shrine's origins are said to trace back to the 10th-generation descendant of Fujiwara no Kamatari, Asukai Kibu-kyo, who resided in this area as a development officer. In 807 CE (Daido 2), on April 10, he enshrined Iwakire-gami and Ne-kire-gami as local guardian deities. Later, Hayama Saburozaemon invited Kotoshironushi-no-kami from Katori Jingu (Katori Grand Shrine) to serve as a guardian deity.
