History
It is said that the shrine originated when Empress Jingu set up an altar in the Noso forest to enshrined heavenly and earthly deities on her return journey from the conquest of the Three Kingdoms of Korea. The exact date of its founding is unknown, but records indicate that the shrine buildings were established in 1359 CE (Bunno 4). It was elevated to the status of a prefectural shrine in 1924 (Taisho 13) and is currently listed as a special shrine under the Association of Shinto Shrines.
