南禅寺の裏手に位置し、水路閣から続く坂道を上がった先にひっそりと佇む塔頭です。境内は手入れが行き届いており、特に晩秋の紅葉は美しく、静かに参拝できる穴場として知られています。奥の院までは徒歩で数分ほどで、静かな雰囲気の中で落ち着いて参拝できます。
