History
Ariso Shrine was originally enshrined at Amahare Coast but was relocated to Takaoka Shikino due to coastal erosion. During the Bunmei era, Yokota Masuhachiman Shrine was invited to the site, and in 1610 CE (Keichō 15), Ariso Shrine was merged into it. In 1612 CE (Keichō 17), the shrine was moved to its current location due to flooding of the Senho River. In 1947 CE (Shōwa 22), it was renamed Ariso Masuhachiman Grand Shrine.

What visitors say
The shrine grounds feature many highlights, including a large zelkova tree designated as a Takaoka City Preserved Tree, impressive stone statues of the Senior and Junior Councilors of State, and stone walls. The atmosphere is quiet and serene. The parking lot is located behind the grounds. A unique aspect of the worship experience is that visitors are purified with a bell when receiving amulets.
