History
Founded by Matsuno Rokurozaemon Shigemasa in 1274 CE (Bun'ei 11), with the monk Nichiben serving as the founding abbot. During the Edo period, it served as the betto (managing temple) for Imai Hachiman Shrine. In 1896 CE (Meiji 29), the main buildings were washed away by a flood, and the temple was relocated and rebuilt at its current location in 1906 CE (Meiji 39).
