It subsequently received protection from the Mori and Asano clans while undergoing several relocations. After the Meiji Restoration, it was petitioned to become a branch temple of Honganji, and in 1908 CE (Meiji 41), it was renamed to its current name, Honganji Hiroshima Betsuin.
