The shrine's origins date back to 1898 CE (Meiji 31), when a special imperial seal was received from Sapporo Shrine and residents erected a small shrine to enshrine the deity as Futsunushi Shrine. In 1915 CE (Taisho 4), it was merged with Fujiwara Farm Inari Shrine and relocated to the town center, taking the name Futsunushi Shrine. In 1974 CE (Showa 49), it was moved and rebuilt on a high ground in the former location of its founding in the Hyogo-cho area.
