A document from the Genroku period states that it was founded by Shumori of Kannonji Temple during the Eiroku era. During the Edo period, it was known as Hiroba Shrine. In 1872 (Meiji 5), it was designated as a village shrine. Today, it is worshipped as a deity of dental health based on the legend of Emperor Ojin's 'Mizubetsu-bi Son' (Deity of Auspicious Teeth).
