Founded in 1640 CE (Kan'ei 17) as the village's tutelary shrine, with Sudo Tarozaemon Moritada, the third-generation lord of the area, serving as the patron. In 1871 CE (Meiji 4), it was relocated from the grounds of Myoen-ji Temple to its current location pursuant to the Separation of Shinto and Buddhism decree. In 1975 CE (Shōwa 50), Yamahiko Shrine (formerly located at Morino 2-12) was also relocated here.
