Shoukakuji Temple
目黒区中目黒3丁目1−6
A Nichiren sect temple located in Nakameguro, Meguro Ward, Tokyo. Its mountain name is Jissouzan. It houses a statue of Nichiren Daishonin that Tokugawa Ienari revered at Edo Castle.
History
Founded in 1619 CE (Genna 5) with Hosen-in Nichiei as the founding monk and Misawa Hatsuko as the patron. In 1698 CE (Genroku 11), influenced by the suppression of the Fushu Fushi sect, the head temple was changed to Kuonji on Mount Shingon. Additionally, Misawa Hatsuko devoted herself to Nichiyu and Nichito, who were the resident priests, and donated her residence to establish various halls.
