History
In 1899 CE (Meiji 32), a small shrine was built on the banks of the Ishikari River by a group of individuals with the ambition to develop Hokkaido. In 1902 CE (Meiji 35), another small shrine was established in the urban district. In 1926 CE (Taishō 15), the current shrine buildings were constructed, and the two shrines were merged to form Hiburi Shrine. In 1953 CE (Shōwa 28), it became a religious corporation under the jurisdiction of the Association of Shinto Shrines, and in 1979 CE (Shōwa 54), the shrine buildings were renovated.
