In 1920 CE (Taisho 9), permission was granted to enshrine General Nagayama Takeshiro, the ancestral deity of pioneering, alongside the original deity. The shrine was elevated to the status of a prefectural shrine in 1945 CE (Showa 20). In 1993 CE (Heisei 5), a new complex of Shinto-style buildings was constructed, befitting a shrine of distinguished lineage dedicated to the ancestral deity of Chuntanhei pioneering.
