History
Founded in 1326 CE (Karyaku 1) by Muzon Nyodo within the grounds of Izumi-ji, the temple fell into ruin due to the Ōnin War. It was rebuilt at its current location in 1664 CE (Kanbun 4) and 1665 CE (Kanbun 5) with the support of the Honda Masatsune couple and the efforts of Kakun Seido. Since then, it has served as the ancestral temple for the descendants of Honda Masatsune in Kyoto.
