In 1339 CE (Kouou 2), Ogasawara Sadamune founded the shrine to enshrine Suwa Myojin in gratitude for a military victory. In 1402 CE (Ooei 9), Ogasawara Nagamoto invited the kami of Kitano Tenmangu to be enshrined here. In 1504 CE (Eishou 1), the shrine buildings were moved westward to serve as the guardian and local tutelary deity of Fukashi Castle. In 1841 CE (Tenpo 12), with permission from the Yoshida family, the shrine changed its name from Miyamura-gu to its current name.
