豊島区南池袋2丁目20−37
A Nichiren sect temple located in Toshima Ward, Tokyo. It is known as the family temple of the Sakakibara clan, and the grounds contain the grave of Taro Katsuo and a memorial stele for the Kami-ki Tai (Divine Tree Corps).
History
This Nichiren sect temple was founded in 1618 CE (Genna 4) by Nichiei of Zenryo-in. During the mid-Edo period, the mother of Masakuni Sakakibara, the lord of Himeji Domain, became a devotee, and the temple subsequently became the family temple for the women of the Sakakibara household. The grounds enshrine the grave of the sixth-generation Taro Katsuo and a memorial stele for those who died in the Boshin War while serving in the Kami-ki Tai (Divine Tree Corps).
