Yuzuyama Jōkō-in Jōshin-ji
文京区向丘2丁目17−4
A Jōdo-shū (Pure Land) Buddhist temple located in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo. It is also the 10th station of the Edo Sanjūsan Kannon (Edo 33 Kannon) pilgrimage and the 17th station of the Ueno-Ōji Komagome-be Sanjūsan Kannon Reijō (Ueno-Ōji Komagome-be 33 Kannon Sacred Sites) pilgrimage.
History
Founded in 1616 by Kōren-ja Tōyō Bunkō with the assistance of the founding patron, Watanabe Ryū Sukekurō. Originally located in Yushima, the temple was destroyed in the Meireki Fire of 1657 and subsequently relocated to its current site. After World War II, it absorbed and merged with Shōnen-ji, which had been located in Hakusan, inheriting an eleven-faced Kannon statue and multiple pilgrimage station designations.

What visitors say
Located within walking distance of Tōdaimae Station, the entrance features a large statue of Hotei (Buddha of Abundance). The main hall is a magnificent structure painted in vermilion and adorned with giant lanterns. In spring, beautiful cherry blossoms bloom, and during the Hana Matsuri (Flower Festival), sweet tea is sometimes distributed. At the temple office, you can receive a hand-written Goshuin (a temple's calligraphic seal stamp), which is available during all hours except the lunch break (12:00 PM to 1:00 PM).
