Manfukuji
神戸市長田区海運町4丁目1−1 本庄町4丁目4
A Soto sect temple located in Nagata Ward, Kobe, which is counted as the fifth station of the Fukuhara Saigoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage.
History
Traditionally said to have been founded by Taira no Kiyomori, the temple was established in 1534. Originally a Shingon sect temple, it converted to the Soto sect in 1872. In 1928, an exterior wall constructed using natural stones from the Kiso River was built, leading to the temple also being known as Kame no Kōji (Turtle Shell Temple) due to its shape.
