Founded in 1936 CE (Shōwa 11) as a branch of Tōen-ji in Shiga Prefecture by the current abbot, Saka-saka Chikū-ō, in Okusawa 2-chōme. The temple relocated to its current site in 1949 CE (Shōwa 24) and was rebuilt into a modern reinforced concrete structure in June 1963 CE (Shōwa 38).
