History
Originally a sub-temple of a Tendai sect temple located in Gunmura, it later converted to Jodo Shinshu and was relocated to Gunmura in 1574 CE (Tensho 2). In 1606 CE (Keicho 11), it was granted a temple name. In 1624 CE (Kan'ei 1), it moved to Kumadori-mura. During the Genna era, it also served as the residence of the abbot of Shorinji Temple.
