History
Founded in 1532 by Tonomiya Hayato-masakage, a senior retainer of the Hojo clan, as a branch of Komagome Kichijoji Temple, with Daishu Yasumitsu as its founding abbot. Initially named Joko-in, it was located within the Wada-gura Gate of Edo Castle. After several relocations, it moved to its current location in Ikebukuro in 1915.
