History
It is said that Daishi Houon founded Zenko-ji during the Tenpyo-Shoho period of the Nara era. Anju-in serves as the head abbot's residence of Zenko-ji. The temple was revived in the 7th year of the Engi era (907 CE) by Seihou, the founder of To-ji Temple, and underwent further revival during the Muromachi period. In the early Edo period, Kobayakawa Hideaki rebuilt the main hall and other structures. Currently, it serves as the memorial temple for Uchida Hyakken.
