A shrine where prayers for eye health are offered, based on the legend of Lord Keikyo, who gouged out his own eyes. A sacred tree, the Ogatama-no-ki, grows within the grounds, and the Ikime Kagura (sacred dance) is performed annually in March.

What visitors say
It is a large shrine suitable for Hatsumode (the first shrine visit of the New Year), but there are many stairs leading to the main hall. It is worshipped as a deity of the eyes, regarded as a god who is close to humans, and the Kagura performed during festivals is highly recommended. The grounds feature many giant trees, and Goshuin (a shrine's calligraphic seal stamp) is available (300 yen for pre-written, handwritten also available).
