History
Founded during the reign of Emperor Shomu (724–749 CE). Originally situated in Takabata on the west bank of the Arakawa River as a deity of water transport, it was relocated to Ichijo-Koyama (present-day Kofu Castle) by Takeda Nobuyori in the late Heian period. During the Bunroku era (1592–1596 CE), it was moved to its current location in conjunction with the construction of Kofu Castle, where it continued to be revered as the tutelary deity of the Takeda clan.
