The original shrine was destroyed in the Great Yonezawa Fire of 1927 CE (Taishō 16), and the current structure was rebuilt in 1924 CE (Taishō 13). It was elevated to the status of a Prefectural Shrine in 1927 CE (Shōwa 2).
