Hakusan Himemi Jinja

This is the head shrine of the Hakusan faith, which venerates the sacred peak Mount Hakusan as its divine body. As the head shrine for approximately 3,000 Hakusan shrines across Japan, it is affectionately known locally as 'Shirayama-san'. The shrine grounds, dominated by cedar trees and asunaro trees up to a thousand years old, exude a solemn atmosphere. The treasure museum houses numerous shrine treasures, including Important Cultural Properties. The main hall (honden), designated as a Tangible Cultural Property by Ishikawa Prefecture, along with the approach path designated as a Place of Scenic Beauty by the city, and ancient cedar and zelkova trees designated as Natural Monuments, all convey the dignity of this ancient shrine.
