Tradition holds that the shrine was founded in the late Heian period to coincide with the development of the Imafuku Imperial Granary in Settsu Province. Until the separation of Shinto and Buddhism, it was known as a Sanjūban Shrine. In the Meiji era, it was designated as a Village Shrine and a Shrine for the Offering of Food and Silk. In 1932, it was reconstructed by Furuoka Shunshun, who was involved in the design of Osaka Castle.
