History
The founding date is unknown. Originally located in Mikawa Province, it moved to the area near Kanda-Sunado-bashi Bridge in Edo in 1628. Following the Meireki Fire of 1657, it relocated to Matsukicho in Asakusa and became a subtemple (tatcho) of the Higashi Hongan-ji in Asakusa. The temple buildings were destroyed in the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, and the temple moved to its current location in 1927.
