戊辰戦争の激戦地であり、土塀には当時の銃弾の跡が残っています。境内には戦没者を埋葬した「戦死墓」があり、歴史の重みを感じさせる場所です。参拝の際には御朱印の代わりに参拝記念が授与されることがあります。
