It is said that during the Kakuro period, when Shinran stayed there, the abbot converted to Jodo Shinshu Buddhism and designated Shinran as the founding patriarch. After relocating to Tachihara, Fuji District during the Sengoku period, it moved to its current location in Numazu during the Tensho period.
