History
On February 1, 1913 CE (Taishō 2), this shrine was formed by merging eight shrines, including Umi Shrine. Around the Jōroku to Tenbun periods (1526–1556 CE), by order of the local lord, the Toki clan, the shrines of seven villages, including Omogi Village, were transferred to the Honmura Fukasaka Shrine. The head shrine (sō-sha) during this transfer was the Ōryō Shrine (now Umi Shrine). Subsequently, the deities were enshrined in various villages, and in Omogi, the Shinmei Shrine came to be revered as the village shrine.
