In the Meiji era, the Uwakita district, which had been part of the shrine's parishioner area, was ceded to Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Asama Taisha, and the shrine was renamed 'Komuro Asama Shrine.' It features the largest one-bay main hall (honden) in Yamanashi Prefecture and has long been revered as the tutelary deity (Ujigami) of the northern foothills region of Mount Fuji.
