History
The founding date is unknown, but the temple was revived during the Shohei era. During the Meiji period, it attracted devotion to Benzaiten (Sarasvati), believed to have been sculpted by Kobo Daishi (Kukai). It subsequently fell into disrepair but was rebuilt through the efforts of Junhiro Katsu again, who became the abbot in 1973 (Showa 48). In 1986 (Showa 61), it was designated as the Bishamonten site of the Nagareyama Nanfukushin and the 8th station of the Kanto Sanjusan Kannon Pilgrimage.
