Fukusenji Temple
西東京市下保谷3丁目11−17
A Nichiren sect temple located in Nishi-Tokyo City, Tokyo, with the mountain name Hoya-san and the temple name Myogaku-in.
History
It is said to have been founded on January 16, 1587 CE (Tenshō 14) by Nichien Shonin. It served as the Bessō (a temple associated with a shrine) of the Sanjiban Shrine, which was the general guardian shrine of Shimo-Hoya Village. When the separation of Shinto and Buddhism led to the prohibition of Sanjiban deity worship, the deity statues were transferred to this temple and have been preserved to this day.
