Its predecessor was a shrine enshrining a branch spirit of 'Hayashima-mura Castle Mountain Shōichi-i Inari Daimyōjin' (First-Rank Inari Great Deity of Hayashima Village Castle Mountain), established on land donated by the feudal lord Tōgawa-kō. The exact date of the predecessor's founding is unknown, but it is said to have been established shortly after the completion of the new land reclamation project in Obae-oki Shinden Village in 1707 CE (Hōei 4).
