History
The founding date is unknown, but it is presumed to have been established around the same time as the adjacent Saihukuji Temple. The shrine buildings originally faced west, but were reoriented to face south following an incident in which the lord of Iwatsuki Domain fell from his horse. The cooperative relationship with Saihukuji Temple continued even after the separation of Shinto and Buddhism in the early Meiji period. Under the modern shrine rank system, it was classified as a village shrine (sonsha).
