History
It is said to have been founded during the reign of Emperor Suinin. It is recorded in Volume 10 of the Engishiki as one of the 18 shrines of Bitchu Province. According to the Yamato-hime Seiki, Toyoshimimi-hime-no-Mikoto transferred the sacred mirror of Amaterasu Omikami to the current site of Anamon-yama Shrine and enshrined it there for four years. The current shrine buildings were rebuilt and donated in 1637 CE (Kan'ei 14) by Ikeda Izumo-no-kami Nagatsune, the lord of Bichu Matsuyama Castle.

What visitors say
After passing through the torii gate, a narrow mountain path without guardrails continues, making it difficult to drive. Therefore, it is common to park near the torii gate and walk to worship. At the top of the mountain path, there is a solemn atmosphere reminiscent of a hidden paradise, with majestic shrine buildings that harmonize with nature and a sacred cave blocked by rocks.
