History
In 1645 CE (Shoho 2) or 1649 CE (Keian 2), the sub-temple Jogyoin was established to the south of Hozoin. A thousand-day memorial service (senjitsu eko) was performed to offer prayers for the war dead of the Siege of Osaka. It was subsequently known as Senjitsuji, but relocated to its current location in Katsuyama, Tennoji Ward, in December 2008 CE (Heisei 20).
