History
Its predecessor, the Jo-goin temple, was established in 1645 CE (Shoho 2) or 1649 CE (Keian 2) to the south of Hozonji Temple. It performed the Senjitsu Eko (thousand-day memorial rites) to offer prayers for the war dead of the Siege of Osaka, and was thereafter known as Senjitsuji (Thousand Day Temple). In December 2008 CE (Heisei 20), it relocated to its current location in Katsuyama, Tennoji Ward.
