The temple expanded and changed its name under the patronage of Fujiwara no Fuhito and Fujiwara no Fusumaro. It prospered during the Muromachi period due to donations from the Hosokawa clan. In the Edo period, it was revived through donations from Matsudaira Yorishige. It is currently a temple of the Shingon independent sect.
