The main hall features luxurious architecture adorned with carvings by Saishugoro and murals by Kanoo Sanso, earning it the nickname 'The Nikko of Kansai.' During the Meiji period, the attendant temple Tenyo-ji was abolished due to the separation of Shinto and Buddhism, but Kishu Toshogu continued to exist as a prefectural shrine.
