通常は非公開ですが、特別公開の際には内部を見学できます。中国の建築様式を取り入れた重厚な造りで、内部には回転式の書架（輪蔵）や壁画、彫刻が残っています。仁和寺の至宝として、公開のタイミングを狙って訪れる価値のある建物です。
