The shrine buildings were constructed in 1824 by Todo Takatomi, the lord of the Tsu Domain. In 1882, it was classified as a Special Official Shrine. The shrine was reduced to ashes during the Great Tsu Air Raid in 1945 but was rebuilt in the 1950s (Showa 30s).
