七条通りの突き当たりに位置し、立派な石段と総門が目を引く寺院です。総門の正面からは中に入れませんが、右側に回り込むと車も入れる広い入口があり、そこから境内へ入ることができます。境内には朱印の受付があり、見事な庭園や紅葉、宝物館の障壁画なども見どころです。
