Akenushi Shrine
〒715-0004 岡山県井原市木之子町3909
A shrine located in Ibara City, Okayama Prefecture, in an area historically referred to as the 'Ake' district.
History
The exact date of founding is unknown, but tradition holds that it was established during the reign of Emperor Yuryaku. It is said that the enshrined deity, Kamo-wake-no-Mikoto, resided in this area as the governor of Ake, and the people, admiring his virtue, enshrined him as Ake-no-Ōmyōjin (Great Deity of Ake). In 1911 CE (Meiji 44), the unranked shrine Hachiman Shrine was merged into this shrine.
