History
The temple was founded in 1330 CE (Antoku 2) when Nijo Sadato donated land and invited Muso Soseki to serve as the founding priest. It fell into ruin during the Onin War but was restored after being designated as the ancestral temple of the Kai Takeda clan. During the Sengoku period, it was rebuilt by Takeda Harunobu. Later, Kaigen Shoki became the abbot and established it as the ancestral temple of Takeda Shingen.
