🙏 心願成就

A temple in Nara City and the head temple of the Hosso school of Buddhism. It flourished from the Nara period through the Heian and Kamakura periods as the clan temple of the Fujiwara family. Its origins are traced to the Mount Kaku Temple (Yamashakadera), established in 669 CE (Tenji 8) in Yamashaka (now Yamasaka Ward, Kyoto City) by Kyou no Himemiko, wife of Fujiwara no Kamatari, to pray for his recovery from illness. In 710 CE (Wado 3), coinciding with the relocation of the capital to Heijo-kyo, Fujiwara no Fuhito moved the temple to its current location and renamed it Kofuku-ji. The principal image is the Shaka Nyorai (Buddha) enshrined in the Chokondo (Golden Hall). The five-story pagoda, standing 50.1 meters tall, is the second-tallest wooden pagoda in Japan, after the one at To-ji Temple, and is designated as a National Treasure. The temple houses numerous National Treasure-class Buddhist statues, including the famous six-armed Asura statue (part of the National Treasure group of standing statues of the Eight Deities). It is registered as a World Cultural Heritage Site under 'Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara.'

毘沙門天が鬼を退治する、節分の鬼追い式。
2月3日、東金堂で行われる節分の法要。松明を持った鬼を毘沙門天が退治する「鬼追い式」と豆まきで知られる。

5月・第3金土曜薪御能
5月の夜、現存最古級の薪能が奉納される。
5月第3金・土曜、興福寺南大門跡と春日大社で行われる現存最古級の薪能。夕暮れの薪の灯りのもと幽玄な能・狂言が奉納される。
