History
The founding date is unknown. It is said that the shrine originally stood on Mount Suzumi, but due to flooding of the Gamō River in 806 CE (Daidō 1), the shrine buildings were washed away. Consequently, the shrine was relocated to its current site (Ōgami-gasaki) on November 15 of the same year. Until the early modern period, it was known as Ōgami Shrine or Arasuna Daimyōjin, but it was renamed Arasuna Shrine in the early Meiji era.
