History
It is said to have been founded as a Tendai sect temple by Hachisuka Shigemune during the Shōji era. The temple burned down in a fire in 1471 CE (Bunmei 3) and was re-established as a Rinzai Zen sect temple of the Myoshin-ji school by the monk Jitsuwaku in 1668 CE (Kanbun 8). Following another fire in 1692 CE (Genroku 5), the current main hall was built in 1975 CE (Shōwa 50).
