Soha-taka Shrine
印西市笠神772−1
This historic shrine is enshrined at the site of a watchtower on the ruins of Kasagami Castle in Inzai City, Chiba Prefecture. Thirty-three Koshin-to (Koshin stone monuments) stand in rows, offering visitors a unique landscape to enjoy.
History
Before its founding, Ueno Castle, ruled by Chiba Tadayoshi, stood on this site. The shrine was established under the protection of the Chiba clan after the castle was abandoned. It is believed to have been a branch shrine of Soba-taka Daimyojin, which the Chiba clan worshipped at the demon gate (kimon) of their residence. It was founded in 1576 CE (Tensho 4).

What visitors say
Located on the south side of the mountain, a small shrine can be found after climbing up stone steps. The former shrine buildings have been removed, leaving only the stone foundation. Many Koshin-to (Koshin stone monuments) are scattered throughout the precincts, and the Nanyoin temple is also nearby. Since there is no dedicated parking lot, it is convenient to use parking facilities in the vicinity.
